Easy Programming for Baofeng!

Starting out with new radio out of the box.

Initial Setup

Put radio in VFO MODE

  1. go to MENU #28 and delete all frequencies in memory
  2. go to MENU #0 and set squelch, click MENU, use up/down arrows to set, click MENU
  3. go to MENU #1 and set freq steps to 5.0, click MENU, use up/down arrows to set, click MENU
  4. go to MENU #26 to put in offset freq, click MENU, set offset freq (2M is 00.600 440 is 05.000) click MENU,
  5. click EXIT.

To program Simplex Frequency

Put radio in VFO MODE

  1. enter frequency
  2. click MENU, go to MENU #27 MEM-CH, click MENU, find blank memory channel using up/down arrows, click MENU, then click EXIT.

Frequency should then be stored in memory

To program Repeater Frequency

MAKE SURE OFFSET FREQUENCY IS SET TO CORRECT BAND See #4 on VFO MODE

  1. enter repeater OUTPUT frequency
  2. to enter PL TONE (if needed) click MENU, go to MENU#13, click MENU, use up/down arrows to select PL TONE, click MENU, then EXIT
  3. for offset direction, click MENU, go to MENU #25, click MENU, use up/down arrows to select offset (-or+) click MENU, then EXIT
  4. to store freq in memory, click MENU, go to MENU #27, click MENU, find blank MEM-CH using up/down arrows. click MENU, then EXIT
  5. enter repeater INPUT frequency
  6. then click MENU, click MENU, click MENU, then EXIT

Repeater frequency should then be stored in memory

Note

What I do when I finish storing frequencies in memory, I go to VFO MODE then click MENU, go to MENU #13 and turn off PL TONE, then go to MENU #25 and turn off offset direction. If I was setting up frequencies in the 440 band, I go to MENU #26 and put offset freq back on 00.600 for 2M use.
